General Dog Adoption--United States
Petfinder.com is an excellent resource. Here, you can search based on your location and the kind of pet you want to adopt down to the breed, size, color and gender.
The Humane Society of the United States offers great advice on the process of adopting a pet.
Operation Kindness--the largest and oldest no-kill shelter. A very great organization! While you're visiting their web site, you might consider making a donation.
Adopt a Westie!
Bertie wants to see all doggies (and kitties, too) find a good home. But, of course, he's extra-interested in his own people. Westie Rescue USA offers great resources for those interested in adopting a Westie.
Texas-Oklahoma Area Westie Rescue
Bonhaven Scottish Terrier Rescue in Oklahoma provides services for both Scottish Terriers and Westies. These are the kind folks that rescued Bertie and brought him into my life.
